Dr. David Bussan

Dr. David Bussan started his career with Town and Country Animal Hospital in 1969, after doing undergraduate work at University of Illinois and graduating from University of Illinois Veterinary School. He is a member of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association). Dr. Bussan grew up on a farm in Galena, IL, a member of 4-H and FFA. He currently resides in Normal. In his free time, he enjoys farming and gardening.

Dr. Ronald Goeckner

Dr. Goeckner joined the Town and Country Animal Hospital Staff in 1975. He grew up in Effingham, IL, graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1971, with a B.S. in Zoology, and received his DVM from the University of Illinois in 1975. He is a member of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) and the ISVMA (Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association). Dr. Goeckner works with the Animal Emergency Clinic occasionally, to fill in, or when called in for a special emergency surgery. His greatest interest in the animal field is general medicine, because of the variety. He now resides in Normal, IL with his wife. Dr. Goeckner enjoys traveling and fixing things in his spare time.

PETS: Two cats, Speedy and Teddy, and his dog, Squirt.

Dr. Melissa Alexander

Dr. Alexander grew up in Lincoln, IL, where she worked at Weslyn Animal Clinic, before coming to Town and Country Animal Hospital in 1995. She received her B.S. in Biology in 1991, and her DVM in 1995, both from the University of Illinois. She is a member of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association), ISVMA (Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association), and AAFP (American Association of Feline Practitioners). The work she does with the Animal Emergency Clinic is limited to filling in, when needed. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, growing African Violets, cooking, and reading.

PETS: 3 cats (Tyler, Robin, and Jackson), 1 dog (Kobe), and 2 small fish tanks.

Dr. Peg Firth

Before joining the Town and Country team in 2001, Dr. Firth worked in an animal hospital in the Chicago area. She received her M.S. from Southern Illinois and her B.S. and D.V.M. from Colorado State University. Her areas of interest in the animal field include Internal Medicine and Behavior. She is a member of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association), ASVMA, and AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association). She enjoys relaxing in her spare time, as well as traveling and house projects (which never end!).

PETS: Dusty, Rudy, Domino, Haidan, Pix, Missy, Mason, McTavish, Shakespeare, and Benjamin Black.

Dr. Matt Bussan

Dr. Matt Bussan, a native of Normal, IL, joined the Town and Country Animal Hospital staff in 1990. In 2000, he received his B.S. in Chemistry from ISU, and in 2004, his D.V.M. from the University of Illinois. He is now on staff as a veterinarian. Dr. Bussan is a member of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) and ISVMA (Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association). In his free time, he enjoys playing and watching sports, reading, bike riding, traveling, and other outdoor activities.
